Normal hours worked is a feature of ‘Real Time Information’ (RTI). HMRC want to know on average how often an employee works.

This can be set in ‘Employee Maintenance’ > ‘Pay Rate’ for individual employees. You can also use bulk amendments to set the number of normal hours worked for the whole payroll (or Divisions/Departments/Locations if you have these set up in your software).

If you would like to apply a bulk amendment to the whole payroll for normal hours worked then use the following menu: ‘Company’ > ‘Bulk Amendments’ > ‘Set Number of Normal Hours Worked’

After selecting the menu item you will be presented with a dialogue box with several options:

  • Select the most relevant ‘Normal Hours Worked’ option and then click ‘Update’.
  • A message will appear asking if you are sure you want to update – click ‘Yes’ to continue.
  • After clicking ‘Yes’ another message box will appear telling you how many records have been updated.

Once you have received the confirmation message the amendments have been made. You can check on individual employees by looking at the ‘Pay Rates‘ tab in ‘Employee Maintenance‘ again.
